The NPIF can provide matching funds to country projects that meet th= eir criteria for advancing ABS initiatives consistent with the Protocol. H= e is familiar with the ICBG program and just recently made the first mid-le= vel ($1 mil) NPIF award to the Panama ICBG to promote a joint initiative ba= sed on, but expanding the activities of, the ICBG. Josh and I suggested th= at your Fiji ICBG might similarly be a suitable basis on which to build a N= PIF project. I am attaching a draft checklist Jaime forwarded to us that g= ives some idea of the criteria for projects. If you are interested, please= contact Jaime, cc'd here, to discuss in more detail. Lissy Coley with the= Panama Group can also give you more insight into what is involved in putti= ng together one of these proposals.
